Rome is one of the most magical cities in the World: rich in history, culture, scenographic sites and much more. Italy also has a very long tradition of movie making. Owing to these reasons, the Eternal City has been chosen as the set for filming some of the most memorable scenes in the history of filmography.
Let us see together the five most famous films set in Rome:
Roman Holiday(1953):
Who can forget the image of Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck touring Rome on a Vespa? In this classic movie, Audrey Hepburn plays a beautiful princess who is able to escape from her royal duties and meets a charming journalist (Gregory Peck) who will take her on the most wonderful tour of Rome. Filled with fun and romance, Roman Holiday is undoubtedly one of the most famous films set in Rome, as it says in the title!
La Dolce Vita (1960):
La Dolce Vita is a visually enchanting film by one of the most famous Italian movie directors: Federico Fellini. It narrates one week in the life of Marcello Rubini (played by Marcello Mastroianni), a reporter in search of happiness and love. The film is entirely set in Rome; however many scenes have been filmed in a studio. But do not worry, Anita Ekberg and Marcello Mastroianni have actually jumped in the real Fontana Di Trevi: you will certainly be able to remember this scene as one of the most memorable in movie history.
